Bryansk Region to become Russia's largest beef producer
The government of the Bryansk Region in central Russia has decided to subsidise a beef cattle breeding investment project by the Bryansk Meat Company, potentially turning the region into the country's largest beef producer.
At least RUR150 million (US$5 million) will be issued to the company from the regional budget within three years. The success of the project will make the Bryansk Region the most dominant beef producing province in Russia.
The RUR20-billion (US$668-million) project, to be implemented in 2009-2016, will have an annual projected capacity of 29,000 tonnes of meat.
