Vietnamese tuna export to go up 76%

Vietnamese firms have been predicted to export more than US$200 million worth of tuna since early 2010, up 76% on-year, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

The association said that tuna export became the third largest export staples of Vietnamese seafood industry, after shrimp and tra fish. Vietnamese tuna's export revenues account for 6.6% of the country's total seafood export revenues.

The fish was exported to 83 countries and territories worldwide, with 48% of which were to the US, 20% to EU and 9% to Japan.
