Bunge to operate soyoil plant in early 2011
Bunge Vietnam Company will begin operating its soy processing plant early next year with a total crushing capacity of 3,000 tonnes per day in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau.
The plant, invested with some US$100 million and currently under construction, is located on an area of 10 hectares within Phu My 1 Industrial Zone in Tan Thanh District of Ba Ria-Vung Tau.
CEO of the US-based Bunge Group Alberto Weisser said that the plant would use mainly soy imported from Brazil and the US to produce oil plus locally-cultivated bean.
At the moment, Bunge is a shareholder of the operating Phu My Port in Baria Serece Company at Phu My 1 Industrial Zone. The port had total loading capacity of over three million tonnes per year.
"These projects mark the beginning of our long-term investments into Vietnam, with many more in the future?" Weisser said.
