US to allow poultry imports from China

The US House of Representatives have approved the 2010 Agriculture Appropriations bill, which would allow China to export poultry to the US again.

The bill sets up an inspection process, whereby the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) will conduct audits and on-site reviews of facilities before any Chinese plants are certified to ship poultry products to the US.

The bill also includes a provision that would provide US$350 million of aid to US dairy producers.
