Market analysis

Lysine prices tumbled after the week-long holidays, as buying interest was slack with corn prices significantly lower amid imminent supply rise. Moreover, with hog prices plummeting to yearly low levels and the quantity of animals limited, feed millers were not keen to stockpile lysine inventories.

In Europe, price quotes for Q4 deliveries were in the range of EUR1.31-1.37/kg. For major customers, January deliveries for Chinese products were at EUR1.13-1.20/kg.

Market forecast

Lysine market will be under more pressure in the coming period with supplies of corn and soy on the rise, and the hog prices stuck at low levels. Feed millers will limit production and withhold the buying of feed ingredients, including lysine.
