Brazil's October soy, meat exports up

 

 

Brazil's soy complex and chilled meat (poultry, pork and beef) exports rose during the first week of October compared to the same period in 2011.

 

According to the Development and Agriculture Ministries on Tuesday (Oct 9), soy exports grew 2.1% in revenue, to US$37.8 million, and fell 16% in volume, to 59,400 tonnes - thus resulting in a 21.6% rise in the average tonne price, to US$636.6.

 

Meanwhile, soymeal and soyoil saw respective rises of 50.6% and 172.5% in revenue and 14.5% and 183.5% in export volume.

 

Chilled beef exports reached 4,600 tonnes and US$22.6 million in the first week of October - respective rises of 15% and 24.3% against a year earlier. In the same comparison, poultry exports rose 9.8% in volume and 3.8% in revenue, while pork exports grew 28.3% and 42.6%, respectively.

 

Sweet corn exports reached US$45.8 million and 169,700 tonnes/day in the first week of October - respective rises of 107.4% and 123.5% against the same period in 2011.
