Ultima Foods to invest for yogurt production in Canada facility
Ultima Foods will invest an additional US$22.5 million to improve yogurt production capacity of its facility at Granby, Canada.
The firm, which is a leading manufacturer and marketer of yogurt in Canada, has announced plans to spend on new equipment at the plant over the next two years to meet increasing demand for its recently launched iögo yogurt brand.
The investment comes just months after the promised announced that it would spend US$10.25 million to expand the Granby facility by 15 million kilogrammes to around 130 million kilogrammes.
The Canada-based yogurt manufacturer vowed to expand the plant following the closure of a six-year processing deal with Yoplait-brand yogurt owners, Yoplait SAS and General Mills.
"The success of iögo is due to the excellent consumer response, our clients' support, the commitment of all our employees, and our determination to build upon our leadership in the Canadian yogurt industry," said Ultima Foods president and CEO, Gerry Doutre.
