No Price Reduction For Trinidad and Tobago's Fine Choice Chicken

One of the leading poultry producers in Trinidad and Tobago, Fine Choice Meats Ltd, reiterated yesterday that there was no move by his company to reduce the price of chicken by 55 per cent.

Jerry Ramdass, general manager of the WGM Group of Co Ltd, the parent company of Fine Choice Meats Ltd, said he has been bombarded with calls following a front page article in a daily newspaper announcing this reduction in the price of chicken parts.

Ramdass sought to clarify his company's position, reconfirming an article published in the Sunday Express in which he denied any move to reduce the price of chicken parts.

He said the erroneous article has the potential to cause "extreme adverse effects''.

"Not only will customers expect the reduction in the price of Fine Choice chicken but other suppliers may, in misdirection, consider reducing their prices,'' he said.

He said their prices will remain the same where it now reaches customers at around $3.86 per pound.
