Grain prices fall sharply in Poland
Grain prices in Poland have fallen sharply, with wheat selling for PLN 500 (US$189) per tonne, down from PLN 800-900 (US$302-340) a year ago.
Rye costs PLN 406 (US$153.5) per tonne, down 46 percent on-year, while corn prices dipped 46 percent to PLN 456 (US$172.4) per tonne.
Production costs are also on the rise, with fertiliser prices skyrocketing by 100 percent. Grain processing companies are waiting for the price to continue falling as they purchase cheaper grain from Ukraine, where wheat costs US$150 per tonne.
