RSPCA prepared to cooperate with pig industry over animal welfare
The Royal Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Australia said it was willing to cooperate with the country's pork industry, in a bid to improve holding conditions of pigs.
RSPCA added that sow enclosures were too narrow and could cause the pigs to develop muscle and bone problems.
Meanwhile, Australian Pork Limited said it was not consulted about the RSPCA's recent welfare campaign for farm animals.
However, a RSPCA official has expressed willingness to meet with APL and work through the issue.
