Tight threonine supply felt in China; higher prices for imports

Threonine prices in China were generally higher in recent days, as market supplies remained tight. Recent offer prices have remained firm, with that of imported threonine by Ajinomoto Co., Inc. registering at least RMB42/kg. Additionally, some resellers were unwilling to release their products at prices lower than RMB41.5/kg.

Meanwhile, local producer Global Bio-Chem was still unable to supply its threonine at normal levels, contributing to the market tightness. Recent offer prices by this producer were at the level of RMB36/kg or even higher. Due to supply tightness, its transacted prices were not consistent, with some falling in the range of RMB34-36/kg. Meanwhile, offer prices by another local producer hovered at RMB36/kg.
