Hundreds of pigs at Indian veterinary college die of swine fever
Pigs at the farm of India's Mannuthy College of Veterinary Sciences were culled after confirmation that 115 out of a total of 1,115 pigs had died of swine fever, another 60 were infected.
Tests done at the Indian Veterinary Research Institute in Bareli confirmed it was the disease which killed the pigs.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the disease.
Swine fever may spread through air, food or physical contact.
