Kemin-funded study points to feed 'biosecurity' in combating PED

New research from Pipestone Veterinary Services suggests that it may be possible to secure feed against the deadly PEDv.

The study says there's "preliminary evidence"showing that feed can be  made safe "against a globally significant virus."

The lead author of the study, Dr. Scott Dee, director of research at Pipestone Veterinary Services, said that "now more than ever, sound science and public or private partnerships are needed to provide the most effective options for risk management in this challenging situation."

Kemin funded the research study at the request of Pipestone Veterinary Services.

Kemin has beein marketing Sal CURB®, the product used in the study, for nearly 20 years. Sal CURB is a formaldehyde blended product designed to maintain Salmonella-negative status of complete feeds and feed ingredients for up to 21 days.

Formaldehyde is an ingredient regulated by the FDA as an antimicrobial and can be used as part of a comprehensive risk management programme.
