Methionine market firm in China but lacks momentum
Prices stable to higher during the week ended October 7.
The supplier of one major imported dl-methionine quoted in the range of RMB31.50-32/kg, while the price quotes of other imported brands were at RMB31.40-32/kg.
Demand for methionine was stable but not exceptionally strong before the Mid-autumn Festival celebration and the long holidays. Nevertheless, some buyers stocked inventories cautiously amid concerns that supplies from Japan might be disrupted due to its diplomatic issues with China.
Growing livestock inventories and increasing import costs, in conjunction with likely import reduction from Japan, will lend support to China's methionine market.
