Russia to almost double poultry output by 2010

Russian poultry meat production will grow from 1.8 million tonnes in 1990 to 2.9 million tonnes in 2010.

An increase in poultry meat production by 300,000 tonnes a year within the next few years will fully satisfy consumption requirements in the country and allow Russia to become a poultry meat exporter.

Russia, which currently imports a considerable part of the national poultry meat consumption, may become an exporter in 2012, said Galina Bobyleva, general director of the Russian Poultry Union.
