Argentina 2006/07 corn sales flat at 13.5 million tonnes

As of October 5, Argentina had sold 13.5 million tonnes of 2006-07 (March-February) corn for export, unchanged since June, the Agriculture Secretariat said Friday (October 5).

The government froze the export registry in November in the face of soaring export declarations.

The Agriculture Secretariat announced in June the reopening of the corn export registry for 3 million tonnes, but the quota was filled within a week.

By this time last year, Argentina had sold 7.8 million tonnes of 2005-06 corn.

No export commitments have been reported for the 2007-08 crop due to the registry closure.
