Canadian government grants subsidy to beef industry
The Canadian government will pour C$1.5 million (A$1.7 million, US$1.52 million) in funding to boost exports of Canadian beef products, according to the European Market Survey of the UK Meat and Livestock Commission.
The Canada Beef Export Federation (CBEF), which represents 90 percent of Canada's beef and veal processing capacity, will look to expand trade opportunities across Asia and in Mexico. In particular the CBEF aims to grow exports to become the third largest supplier of imported beef to these markets by 2015. CBEF will work with locally engaged market experts and all sectors of the beef industry, including producers, packers and processors.
