Russian September poultry imports up on-month, down on-year

Russia imported US$68.7 million worth of poultry in September, down 34% against September 2009, when US$103.6 million worth of poultry was imported, the federal customs service reported Wednesday (Oct 6).

It is 20.8% more than the imports in August this year, when US$56.9 million worth of poultry was imported, the service said.

The increase in imports follows Russia's resumption of the import of poultry from the US after agreement was reached with US producers not to treat poultry with chlorine, which is against Russian health regulations.
