JBS plans expansion in Iowa
JBS Swift & Co. has proposed to construct a distribution centre at its Marshalltown, Iowa, pork complex, according to a report by the Times-Republican.
The refrigerated warehouse's footprint could total 150,000 square feet and the facility would also rely on automated machinery, said Troy Mulger, general manager of the local JBS pork plant.
A public hearing on JBS's zoning request is scheduled for October 15.
The report said JBS needs to acquire additional property to the south of its Marshalltown plant.
The property in question is a park, and the company has offered to relocate and replace its recreational facilities, said the report.
