Russia harvests 93 million tonnes of grain to Oct 6

Russia harvested 93 million tonnes of grain to October 6 on 85 percent of the total area to be harvested, which is 15 million tonnes less on the year, the agriculture ministry reported Tuesday.

Wheat harvest to date was 59 million tonnes, 5.3 million tonnes less than a year ago. Barley harvest to date was 18.2 million tonnes compared with 23.7 million tonnes on the year.

The agriculture ministry said earlier it expected this year's harvest at to be million tonnes, compared with 108.1 million tonnes in 2008.
