US farm futures surge; livestock prices mixed

 

 

Agriculture futures were mostly higher on early Tuesday (Oct 6) on the Chicago Board of Trade, while livestock prices were mixed.

 

Wheat for December delivery jumped 11.25 cents to US$4.54 a bushel; December corn soared 18.5 cents to US$3.60 a bushel; November soy leapt 20 cents to US$9.05 a bushel; and oats for December delivery gained seven cents to US$2.29 a bushel.

 

Meanwhile, beef futures fell as pork prices rose on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

 

October live cattle dropped 0.07 cent to 82.60 cents a pound; October feeder cattle lost 0.45 cent to 92.90 cents a pound; October lean hogs added 0.85 cent to 49.90 cents a pound; and February pork bellies edged up 0.05 cent to 77.75 cents a pound.
