North Yorkshire animal pharmaceuticals firm Animalcare Group has announced a significant increase in profits over the past year.

The firm said group revenue increased from GBP11.7 million to GBP17.6 million in the year to June 2009, while group adjusted operating profit was up by GBP1 million to GBP2.3 million over the same period. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation grew 70 percent to GBP2.7 million.

The company's chairman James Lambert said they are creating a broad-based animal identification and welfare business, with the main emphasis on the sales of licensed veterinary medicines to the companion animal market in the UK and other major European countries.

The other main division of Animalcare Group is the livestock division, which is focused on the supply of livestock identification and welfare products to agricultural retailers and farmers in the UK and Ireland.
