Indian poultry farmers to get subsidised maize
India's government has agreed to release 50,000 tonnes of maize to poultry farmers at Rs 450/100 kg (US$9.87).
This would be provided out of the 500,000 tonnes of maize already approved for release from the surplus stock in five states., Finance Minister P Chidambaram said.
The move would help poultry farmers there to access poultry feed at a reasonable price and partially recoup their bird flu losses incurred in the earlier part of the year.
