Russian grain harvest may reach 125 million tonnes in 10-15 yrs
Russia's annual grain harvest could be increased to between 120 million tonnes and 125 million tonnes within 10-15 years, Agriculture Minister Yelena Skrynnik said Friday (October 2).
Skrynnik said that the result could be reached through expansion of planted areas and higher yields.
The country's exports of grain thus could amount to between 40 million tonnes and 50 million tonnes per year, Skrynnik said.
Russia's grain harvest amounted to 108 million tonnes in 2008 and is expected to exceed 90 million tonnes in 2009.
Russia's exports of grain amounted to 23 million tonnes in 2008 and are expected to amount to 19 million tonnes in 2009.
