Vietnam Jan-Sep seafood exports down 9.5 percent
Vietnam earned US$3.02 billion from seafood export in January to September, down 9.5 percent from a year earlier, the government's General Statistical Office said.
But the country spent US$220 million on importing aquatic products during the period, down 4.1 percent compared to the same period of last year.
In September, the country exported US$410 million worth of seafood, down 2.38 percent as compared to August.
Vietnam targeted to reap US$1.34 billion worth of seafood products in the fourth quarter of this year to increase its total export revenue to US$4.4 billion by the year's end.
Last year, Vietnam shipped US$4.5 billion worth of seafood products aboard, ranking sixth among the top ten seafood exporters and fifth among largest aquatic producers in the world.
