Argentina's August grain stocks at 20.6 million tonnes

 

 

Stocks of major grains and oilseeds in Argentina totalled 20.6 million tonnes as of Aug 31, according to the latest provisional data from the National Office for the Control of Agricultural Trade, Oncca.

 

Stocks of corn, soybeans, sunseed, wheat and 59 "other crops" are in line with stocks at the same time last year.

 

The "other crops" category includes goods like peanuts and rice, etc.

 

Stocks were down 10.4 percent from last month, when 23 million tonnes of grains and oilseeds were held.

 

Argentina's grain storage capacity in July totalled 48.8 million tonnes while utilised capacity was 19.8 million tonnes, or 40.65 percent of capacity. The country has 3,033 storage plants, from small silos to large industrial storage facilities.

 

The following information, which is for stocks in tonnes for major grains and oilseeds as of Aug 31, 2006, Jul 31, 2006 and Aug 31, 2005, does not include grains and oilseeds held privately by farmers.

 

The information refers to the total amount of stocks held by millers and crushers, as well as grains stored in silos.
