UK egg sales to enjoy third consecutive year of growth
             Â
The UK egg market is set to enjoy a third consecutive year of growth, as sales rose about 70 million eggs, according to third quarter sales figures by the British Egg Information Service (BEIS).
Â
Growth in the market has been fuelled by free-range egg sales, which have increased by nearly a quarter since 2006. Free-range eggs now account for more than 40 percent of total retail egg sales.
Â
The consecutive years of growth follows after many years of decline, suggesting that the retail egg market has now settled into a period of long-term growth, said BEIS.
