US gives Cambodia US$5 million to fight bird flu
 

 

The US government has provided Cambodia with US$5 million to support the country's fight against bird flu.

 

Phnom Penh-based USAID Acting Director Scot Covert handed over the aid to the Cambodian authorities yesterday.

 

According to the US Embassy in Phnom Penh , the grant will be used to help raise the Cambodian people's awareness of the epidemics,

 

The money would also be also used to assist Cambodia's statistics sector and strengthen capacity of agencies in detecting and controlling epidemics.

 

Bird flu has killed seven people in the country.
