Russia bans imports of US meat

Russia on Saturday (Sep 30) banned imports of meat from three major US producers for sanitary reasons.

The companies were Gress Foods/Koch Foods, Farbest Foods and Crider, the Russian agriculture ministry said.

A temporary ban was placed on imports from these companies after the discovery of salmonella, the ministry said.

Recently, the Russian authorities said they have banned pork from Premium Standards Farms but the latter said it was a misunderstanding that arose from an administrative issue and its pork was not banned.
