Egg and chicken prices down in India's Tamil Nadu

A sharp drop in sales has prompted producers to lower wholesale prices for broiler chicken and eggs in India's Tamil Nadu.
 

The state is one of the biggest poultry producer in the country.

The price of an egg would be reduced from Rs 1.50 to 1.45 and broiler chicken from Rs 36 to Rs 32 per kg, a 3.3 percent and 10 percent drop respectively, according to the Tamil Nadu Egg Producers Association.

Chicken and egg sales had been reduced as Hindus avoided non-vegetarian food during the 'Puratasi' month and Muslims observed the Ramadan fast.
