Pakistan's seafood exports soar 82%
Pakistan's seafood exports surged over 82.25% in January-February of this year as compared with the same period last year.
The fish and fish preparations during July-August (2010-11) were recorded at US$29.7 million against the exports of US$16.296 million in July-August (2009-10). The data was provided by the Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS).
Seafood exports during August 2010 witnessed 55.95% increase over the same month of last year. The said exports were recorded at US$15.01 million against August 2009's exports which were at US$9,625.
As against the exports of 14.69 recorded in July 2010, exports in August 2010 increased by 1.18%, the data said.
The overall food export witnessed positive growth of 19.20%, growing up from US$488.376 million during the period under review against last year's exports amounting to US$409.72 million.
The export of meat and meat preparations increased by 66.99%.
