UAE lifts ban on poultry imports from Europe, Americas

The United Arab Emirates Tuesday (September 29) lifted a ban on poultry imports from Europe, North and South America, the state-run WAM news agency reported, citing the country's minister of environment and water.

The ban was imposed on imports of all live birds and poultry products from the three continents after an outbreak of the deadly H5N1 bird flu virus.

Imports will be allowed from areas in these continents which are free from the virus, WAM quoted Rashid Ahmed bin Fahad as saying.
