Japan's November wheat needs mostly covered
Japan has purchased nearly 415,000 tonnes wheat this month for November shipment, a government official said Tuesday (Sep 28).
"We have mostly purchased our cargoes for November shipment" the official at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries said.
The ministry usually announces a tender to import food-grade wheat on Tuesdays and finalises it on Thursdays. It did not issue a tender last week.
Japan imports food wheat from Canada, Australia and the US. It is one of Asia's largest importers of wheat. In July, the government set rules for a new loading system for bulk imports of wheat.
