India's Nagaland state bans pork from other regions
Kohima, Nagaland, has banned pork from other regions in a bid to prevent the spread of swine fever caused by Japanese encephalitis. The disease had recently hit Uttar Pradesh state.
Local authorities have also informed all pork sellers within Kohima not to sell the meat without official permission and clearance.
However, some dealers have been smuggling pigs into Nagaland to meet heavy demand, according to reports.
