Ukraine's August grain imports down 22.1% on-year

 

 

Ukraine's grain imports dropped by 22.1% in August 2012 or 1,560 tonnes compared to August 2011, to 5,500 tonnes for US$2.96 million.                                       

 

Ukrainian News learned this from a source in the Cabinet of Ministers.

 

In August, the companies mainly imported barley (2,570 tonnes or 46.7% of the total grain imports).

 

Grain imports fell by 34.1% or 2,850 tonnes in August against July. In January-August 2012 against the corresponding period of 2011, grain imports fell by 13.4% or 16,020 tonnes to 103,540 tonnes for US$215.86 million.

 

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, in July 2012 grain imports decreased by 55.4% or 10,370 tonnes compared to July 2011, to 8,350 tonnes for US$3.96 million.

 

In 2011, as compared to 2010, grain imports increased by 41.9% or 45,190 tonnes to 153,000 tonnes for US$219.79 million.
