Ukraine to boost winter sowings' planted areas by 1% in 2013

By next year, Ukraine will increase the planted areas under the winter sowings by 1% to 9.2 million hectares as opposed to the earlier expected 9.1 million hectares.

This was announced on September 26 by Nikolay Prysyazhnyuk, the Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food of Ukraine.

The Minister noted in the current year the autumn sowings work is more active compared to the last year, and the temps of sowing exceed the last year level by 30%. Meanwhile he noted the soil of the major regions has the sufficient volume of the moisture unlike of the previous season.
