Brazil Aug 2007 poultry farms up 12.22 percent on-year
Poultry farms in Brazil grew some 444.8 million broiler chickens for slaughter in August 2007, up 12.22 percent on-year, data of Brazil's Association of Poultry Producers (Apinco) showed on September 26, 2007.
The growth has been the eighth consecutive monthly on-year increase and the seventh consecutive two-digit rise since the onset of 2007. Compared to July 2007, the number of broiler chickens for slaughter has also increased by 2.34 percent. Also, August 2007 registered the highest production on an adjusted 30-day month production basis in 2007 so far, of 430.5 million broiler chickens for slaughter.
For January to August 2007, Brazilian poultry farms raised a total 3.381 billion broiler chickens, up 13.6 percent year-on-year. The country is expected to raise a total 5.07 billion broiler chickens for the rest of the year and as tge country approaches that figure, as in the twelve months ended August 2007, a total 4.981 billion broiler chickens were raised, up 7.81 percent year-on-year.
