Australia to benefit from more live cattle exports to Indonesia

According to one of Indonesia's largest live import companies PT Agro Giri Perkasa, Australia would benefit much by taking advantage of the potential for significant expansion in Indonesia's live export market.

PT Agro Giri Perkasa said Australia was in an excellent position to profit from Indonesia's growing demand for feedlot cattle.

This was because Indonesia had the fourth largest population in the world and met over 50 percent of domestic red meat demand through imports, the company said.

For 2004-05, Indonesia's market took up 56 percent of all Australian live cattle exports.
