French consumers have voted the Quality Standard Mark (QSM) lamb from Great Britain as a "best product of the year".
The QSM lamb cannon, which is packaged in a skin pack and ready to cook, took the prize in the butchery category. There were other 17 product categories. The new type of packaging acts as a "second skin" for fresh meat, offering numerous advantages to the consumer, including reassurance that the meat is tender and tasty and that the pieces of meat are well aged in a sealed environment. This product also has a longer use-by date.
"We are delighted that French consumers have voted for this Quality Standard Mark product from Great Britain in such a resounding way. This type of public endorsement for British meat is unprecedented in France but it reflects an awful lot of hard work which is done each day behind the scenes by AHDB (Agriculture & Horticulture Development Board) in both France and the UK", said Remi Fourrier, AHDB export manager for France.
The British QSM lamb was chosen by consumers who were invited to evaluate products entered by manufacturers and distributors in an online competition, which was organised by the Dutch market research agency Q&A.
The winning product scores highest in value for money, presentation, satisfaction rating, and likelihood of repeat purchase and recommendation.
