High soy prices push French pig feed prices up

Soaring soy prices have pulled French pig feed prices up to new heights, reaching EUR276 (US$355) per tonne.

According to France's AgriMer first half sector assessment, the US drought this year has quickened the rise in feed prices, last year's highest price was EUR254 (US$327) per tonne, which was sustained over the summer of 2011, before dropping with the appearance of the main cereal harvest.

French feed prices have been rising steadily all year.
