The Ballard Group launches SALmate® in Thailand

American manufacturer The Ballard Group, Inc. launched its EPA/DHA dry encapsulated formulation, SALmate®, during a full day seminar in the Thai capital of Bangkok.
The launch seminar, attended by 61 delegates from the leading Thai animal feed and pet food companies, was organised by their Bangkok-based local distributor, Klean Greentech Co., Ltd. The company supplies solutions to all sectors of the Thai feed industry in areas of functional food-functional feed, food safety and raw material quality. SALmate®, already successfully registered, complements Klean Greentech's product range.
Apart from Thailand, new distribution partnerships in Asian countries like the Philippines, Taiwan, South Korea and Pakistan have been formed, while negotiations are on-going for others like China, Japan and Vietnam.
At the seminar, apart from the presentation by Jan-Jeroen De Beucker, global marketing advisor of The Ballard Group, two eminent guest speakers contributed on the topic of Omega-3, and in particular EPA/DHA.
Dr Vichai Vongsilpavattana informed the audience on the growing importance of Functional Food & Omega-3 in Thailand and the needed strategies and techniques for its successful marketing. Dr Seksom Attamangkune, Department of Animal Science, Kasetsart University, refreshed the technical knowledge on the concept of Fatty Acids and its different sources and benefits.
Essential fatty acids are involved in many different functions including reproduction, anti-inflammatory agents, skin and coat texture, and overall well-being. SALmate® is a natural source of Poly Unsaturated Fatty Acids (PUFA) ω3 from fish oil, applicable across all species with a specific focus on increased reproduction in livestock, and overall well-being in companion animals. It contains approx. 45% fish oil which, together with natural antioxidants, has been encapsulated in a starch matrix to provide essential fatty acids EPA (C20:5 ω3) and DHA (C22:6 ω3).
