Russia aims to double meat production target
The meat production targets of the national project Development of Agri-Industrial Complex will double, said Russian agriculture minister Alexei Gordeyev.
According to Gordeyev's estimates, meat production under the national project will rise by 14- 15 percent, which is twice what the original plan called for.
Since the inception of the national project, Russia has built or refurbished more than 1,250 cattle breeding facilities, mainly in the field of dairy cattle breeding.
So far, R28.7 billion (US$1.15 billion) have been raised for the effort.
