Six US states support bid to ban Canadian beef again

The states of Connecticut, West Virginia, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota and Montana have filed a court brief supporting R-CALF USA's bid to ban Canadian beef again.

American cattle producer organization R-CALF was asking the US 9th Circuit Court of Appeals to review a ruling made in July this year, that overturned a two-year ban on Canadian cattle imports due to mad cow disease.

The states said they supported R-CALF in its argument that the USDA was wrong to allow resumption of live Canadian cattle back into the US. They also expressed their concerns that the disease could potentially devastate domestic human health and economy.
