Methionine market firm in China but lacks momentum
Prices were marginally higher during the week ended September 23.
The supplier of one major imported dl-methionine quoted in the range of RMB31.50-32/kg, while the price quotes of other imported brands were at RMB31.30-31.90/kg.
Suppliers were eager to lift prices of methionine in China after Evonik-Degussa and Novus made announcements to increase price quotes. Nonetheless, overall demand for methionine was not exceptionally strong, even though buyers were stockpiling inventories before the long holidays.
Methionine prices are expected to move higher with imports costs on the rise and demand poised to increase.
