Russia approves 87 seafood exporters from China's Zhejiang
Russia's regulatory authorities had recently named 385 Chinese seafood companies in its approved list of exporters. Of these, 87 were from Zhejiang, one of the major seafood exporting provinces located in eastern China.
According to the Sino-Russian Bilateral Trade Agreement concluded earlier this year, both countries agreed to set up a registry listing system, whereby only products manufactured by approved seafood exporters would be allowed in their respective markets.
In August, a team of experts from Russia's veterinary services inspected seafood exporting companies in Zhejiang. These foreign inspectors were accompanied by officials from China's General Administration of Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.
Following the inspection, 87 out of the 89 prospective exporters from Zhejiang were granted approval to sell their products in Russia.
