Brazil's August domestic chicken offer down 3.66 percent

Brazil's domestic chicken meat offer in August this year totalled some 567,047 tonnes, down by 3.66 percent on-month, local agricultural news and analysis portal AviSite reported on September 24, 2007.

However, the country's chicken offer rose considerably by 21.87 percent compared to January 2007. The increase is attributed to higher exports in August 2006 which were delayed in the previous months.

The total volume of chicken meat offered on the Brazilian market in the 12 months to August 2007 stood at 6.811 million tonnes, up 0.59 percent year-on-year. The domestic chicken meat offer registered six consecutive monthly year-on-year declines in the period October 2006 to March 2007, followed by three consecutive two-digit monthly year-on-year hikes in April, March and June 2007.

In the period January to August 2007, Brazil's chicken offer increased by 3.86 percent year-on-year to 4.581 million tonnes.
