US Grain Export Sales Report
USDA weekly export sales indicated corn sales at 1.378 million metric tons, one-half above the previous week. The latest corn export figure was above trade expectations of 800,000-1.10 million metric tons.
The biggest corn customers were unknown destinations at 500,200 tons, followed by Japan with 215,800 tons, Taiwan at 210,600 tons and Egypt at 141,000 tons. The 2003/2004 marketing year began on Sept. 1.
For soybeans, export sales totalled 752,700 metric tons, within trade estimates of 500,000-800,000 metric tons, and 28 percent above the previous week. The main buyers were China at 330,000 tons, Japan at 126,300 tons and Belgium at 97,000 tons.
