Australia's rapeseed demand may rise due to Canada's poor yields

Due to disappointing rapeseed yields in Canada which is around two million tonnes lower than expected, demand for Australian rapeseed is likely to increase.

Grain market analyst, Greg Kostal from Winnipeg, in Manitoba province, says heat blast, wind and disease are to blame.

"When Australia harvests its crop December forward, it ought to be a more competitive source to attract export demand, whether it's Pakistan or Europe from what otherwise would have been serviced or provided competition in terms of Canadian export," he said.

About 80% of Canada's grain and oilseeds have already been harvested.
