China's Heilongjiang Province grain output to rise for the ninth straight year
Grain output for China's Heilongjiang Province is expected to reach seven million tonnes on year to 62.5 million tonnes in 2012, which will mark its grain production increase for a ninth consecutive year.
The province's planting area of high-yield crops such as corn and rice rose sharply this year while its soy acreage saw a decline.
Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province yielded 55.7 million tonnes of grain last year, accounting for 10% of the country's total.
In the coming several years, Heilongjiang is anticipated to significantly raise its grain production capacity due to supportive policies.
