EU wheat export outlook bearish on lack of demand
Demand for European Union wheat remains slow with wheat exports from the region down on the year, Hamburg-based trading house Toepfer International said in its monthly report Thursday (September 24).
"The good crops in Iran and North Africa have led to a distinct decline in demand for [EU] wheat exports," said the firm.
In addition, the EU processing industry has already covered its needs until the end of 2009, said the report.
Germany's 2009 wheat production is seen at 25 million tonnes, just below 2008 production of 26 million tonnes, with "below average" quality, said Toepfer.
